Designed and crafted by artisans via Mexican foundation Ensamble Artesano in collaboration with Caralarga.

This bag is made of jute thread, and its name is inspired by the stitch of the crochet technique used, which is called “sea foam." This technique has been perfected over the last year by the artisans who learned it independently. The bag lining is made with sanforized blanket fabric from the Caralarga workshop. Besides, it has two variants focused on its handle: one has a short and rigid handle of 10 cm in height, and the other has a long and soft handle of 56 cm in height, which is adjusted to different heights by tying a knot.

Caralarga is a textile design and production workshop inspired by nature’s raw materials; we seek to preserve their essence and accentuate their qualities by transforming them into high quality artisanal pieces. Through our designs, we want to convey the value of our hands and highlight the natural beauty of each material. We like things as they are and we believe that a simple world is better; this is the source of our inspiration.

Clean the jute with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or bleachThe lining can be removed with a stain remover for upholstery and carpets, rubbing gently with a clean towel.

Ensamble Artesano is a non-profit platform, designed as a space for exchange and collaboration to combat the economic uncertainty for artisans in Mexico precipitated by the pandemic. Today, it supports more than three thousand artisans across 22 states in Mexico, in partnership with 83 organizations. It has evolved into an important hub, forging collaborative networks to strengthen the craft sector.
